Venus is a Spring/ Summer 2017 Collection. The inspiration for the collection Venus was my cousin who is a working professional in the fashion world, in her late twenties. The purpose of Venus was to design a collection that a corporate professional could wear to work. Many companies have color restrictions like all neutral colors or 90% black. Therefore, I kept the color pallet very neutral in order to incorporate those wardrobe restrictions. I decided to keep the fabrics light weight to keep cool in times of stress and running around during a busy day. This collection features grommets, lacing, and unfinished edges and other trends that are normally found in RTW. I wanted to bring these features into more business professional clothing and put a modest and polished look to them. I believe my collection aligns with the brand Theory. Theory strives to create comfortable, and beautiful business wear. The clothing in my line stays more in the natural color pallet with the occasional pop of color. This color pallet is fits in well with Theory’s color scheme. Overall, I believe that my collection and Theory as a brand are trying to dress the same type of woman. The woman my collection is designed to dress is a working professional woman in the fashion industry. She is someone who is running around New York in and out of the office and always moving. Therefore I have strove to create a professional line that is also comfortable. Venus would be sold in stores like Macy’s or Bloomingdales. Theory is sold in both those stores and their price range is $100-$600. I believe my price range would be very similar to Theory’s.
